" For many years Chiltern Railways have grappled with the issue of being able to have operatives physically wash the outside of trains with consistency, due to environmental constraints that limited us to only a few locations where the work could take place.

A solution was sought over time. In 2023, we were delighted to have come across a new, Dry Wash provide system that could be an exterior train cleaning alternative to the Chiltern Fleet, which can be done at all of our sites and isn’t hindered by environmental factors.

The system, which isn’t labour intensive requires an operative to apply a purpose-designed Dry Wash Polish to the coach bodywork of trains before wiping away, in the process removing dirt deposits.

The materials and methodology for this new innovation are supplied to Chiltern Railways by THOMS Trading, through IMPACT WORX Ltd, the innovation provides high-quality cleans to our fleet of trains, and in the process helps us to overcome environmental issues that have been prevalent and problematic for years.
